What the guides are
The guides are general information. Facts about banks, Costco and dealers come from each company's own pages and from public bodies, were read on the dates shown, and may have changed since. Where a guide says we found nothing, it describes our search and not a company's policy. Confirm a company's current terms before you rely on a fact.
What the prices are
The spot figure is a quote from gold-api.com. The chart line is built from COMEX futures closing prices that Yahoo Finance publishes. When a page shows what the gold in a bar is worth, it multiplies the bar's weight by that spot quote. The headline number updates roughly every minute for as long as a page stays open, and a full rebuild runs a few times daily, so a number can lag the market or hold an error. No figure here is a quote or an offer, and no seller's price is shown. Obtain every price from the seller, in writing.
When a data source fails
If a feed stops, we keep showing the last good figures with their original time stamp rather than leave a gap or guess. Always read the time stamp beside a price.
The premium checker
The checker does arithmetic on the two numbers you type. It cannot confirm a bar, a seller or a quote, and its answer is neither an appraisal nor advice.
No advice
We do not give financial, tax or legal advice, and nothing here should be read as a prompt to buy, sell or keep anything. For your own circumstances, speak to a qualified professional.
How we earn money
